Created in 1976, The American Folklife Center is dedicated to preserving and presenting the great heritage of American folklife through programs of research, documentation, archival preservation, reference service, live performance, exhibition, publication and training. Included in the Center is the Archive of Folk Culture, established in 1928, one of the largest collections of ethnographic material from the US and around the world.
